Designed
with remarkable imagination, this vessel is filled with innovative
exhibits and experiments. It is built around 4 central themes
pointing visitors to the vessel's vital functions: control, life
support, communications and exploration.
As the hub of these 4 themes and located at the heart of the vessel,
"The Bubble" gives visitors information on scientific
and technological breakthroughs in relevant fields.
Exciting
hands-on experiments
A
control panel and screen for steering the vessel
A control panel displays all the vessel's flight parameters
(speed, flight time, time to Earth, remaining time before arrival,
etc.).
Operational
nanotechnology
A mobile scanner lets visitors examine sections of the
vessel and the places where nanotechnology is operational. The
scanner's zoom capability takes viewer deep into the core of matter
and introduces them to nanorobots the size of a few atoms. These
machines can perform various tasks like repairing the vessel's
hull, recycling al wastes or delivering pharmaceuticals while
circulating through the body via the bloodstream.
Instruments
for detecting exoplanets and extraterrestrial life
Visitors take their seats at the controls of an array
of observation instruments.
Their mission is to find exoplanets, possible signs of extraterrestrial
life and to produce the finest possible analysis of them as possible.
In doing this, they discover various methods for detecting microscopic
objects on the scale of the galaxy and a wide variety of far away
alien life forms.
The instruments made available to visitors are based on those
designed for future space missions.
A
special scanner to see inside our bodies
A scanner gives visitors a 360° view.
A life-size image of the interior of the human body. A 3D picture
of the visitor's torso allows him/her to select and view certain
body organs in real-time
Language
of yesterday, today and tomorrow
Technological, scientific and social changes have significantly
marked the language used aboard the vessel. Thanks to an audio
device, visitors can hear sentences in middle-French, twenty-first
century French, and some Tsiolkovski-era French.
This learning experience is based on the theory of graphs and
enables us to travel through the structure of the French language.
The
Earth's biological and cultural heritage preserved in the "crystals
of wisdom"
The "Crystals of Wisdom" are a gigantic library
containing part of Earth's biological and cultural heritage. As
symbolic objects, these crystals are the physical counterpart
of the "network" available to the vessel's inhabitants,
a kind of meta-central processing unit designed at the very beginning
of the project and constantly evolving. These crystals are the
indicators of the technological and social changes occurring in
the vessel
"The
book of riddles", a high-tech video book
Visitors can consult a "magical" book enclosing
the great riddles of the Universe (architecture of the universe,
objects, black matter, expansion, etc…). This highly original
presentation is a definite highlight for visitors!
Located
at the core of the exhibition, the Bubble is a very special museological
space. It aims at elucidating the latest scientific results, the
outcome of the futuristic prospects exhibited in the vessel, identifying
and briefly describing emerging scientific disciplines and demonstrating
the role played by Research in shaping our future.
Thanks to state-of-the-art technology (stereoscopic detection
camera), the visitor can query a screen without any physical contact.
The scenography is amazing!
A myriad of other features to discover…
Extraordinary
experiments
A few examples :
Teleportation,
myth or reality?
A crewmember floats before the visitors. He presents and
performs a teleportation experiment using the current state of
the art. Science or science fiction, dream or reality?
The
Robota experiment, or how to talk to a robot.
Robota, the charming doll produced by the latest research
into artificial intelligence, "interacts" with visitors.
Research on artificial intelligence is progressing steadily and
should accelerate over the next 10 to 20 years. Often associated
with Science Fiction, robots play an increasingly important role
in our daily lives.
« Mission Biospace » allows the visitor
to get a better idea of how Robota can learn to dance, thanks
to her artificialneuronal network based on imitation strategy
